Fall for the Arts October 4 - 5, 2008
On October 4 and 5, 2008, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod will present the first annual celebration of the Fall for the Arts Festival in Dennis, Falmouth, and Hyannis.
The Fall for the Arts Festival is a free family festival that will feature local art and culture in three communities across Cape Cod, including live performances by local musicians; open houses at theaters, museums, and historical sites; readings and lectures; art activities for children; guided art and heritage walks; plein air painters; special art exhibits; and much more!
Local theaters, museums, individual artists, studios, galleries, and other members of the cultural community across Cape Cod will be offering specials and discounts throughout the weekend of October 4-5, to reach visitors and residents of all ages during this free, regional event.

We invite all Dennis, Hyannis, and Falmouth-based artists, cultural organizations, restaurants, inns, and business owners to participate in Fall for the Arts. This will be a community-wide event that everybody can get involved with, whether it's by hosting an event, offering discounts, opening late for strollers, or just putting up a poster -- YOU can be a part of Fall for the Arts!

Kids in Clay Workshops

Aiden L. Ripley: (1896-1969) A Retrospective: A broad range of work by one of America’s pre-eminent painters of the sporting life in the 1940s and 50s. Sunday, October 5 is the last day for this show.
Artists from the Fine Arts Work Center – In celebration of FAWC’s 40th anniversary, this show spotlights artists who came to Provincetown as fellows for the year-long program and made Cape Cod their home.
A show of the work of Cape Cod Weavers.
Cape Cod Plein Air Painters will be painting on the grounds at different times.

3:30 p.m. “Architecture of the Cape Cod Summer” John Da Silva of Polhemus Savery Da Silva Architects Builders talks about their work on Cape Cod, followed by a book-signing.

12:15 p.m. Painting New England Together – This special talk with artists Jerome Greene and Peter Kalill who have painted landscapes throughout New England together, brings back one of the museum’s most popular talks during the year. Showing samples of their work, they talk about their friendship and influence on each other’s ideas and techniques.

2:00 p.m. A Family Adventure With Clay…Children and their parents make clay creations they can take home.

Art supplies, recycled items and zany art instruction will be provided. 2:30 p.m. Flower Pot Puppets where kids make puppets out of flower pots 4:00 p.m. Puppet Show & Sing-A-Long with Daniel the Singing Scarecrow. Kids must help Daniel write a song about why art is important to every day life!

Cape Cod Spinners Guild: 25th Anniversary Wool Fair

Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Watch as fleece and hair are spun into wool during this annual event showcasing textile art. Visitors may even find sheep and angora rabbits on the lawn! Many handcrafted items will be on display for sale.
