Centerville, MA, May 1, 2006 - The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod has named Nantucket artist Pamela Pindell guest artist of the 21st Annual TD Banknorth Pops by the Sea concert. Pindell has been commissioned to create this year’s commemorative painting and limited edition lithograph, which will be unveiled at a special reception in her honor at the Cotuit Center for the Arts on Monday, June 5 from 6 to 8 pm.

"Pamela Pindell is the ideal artist to create a unique and memorable image for the 21st Annual Pops by the Sea concert," said Maggie Van Sciver, AFCC board president. "She is one of the most sought after and collectable artists of Cape Cod and the Islands, and we are proud to honor her as this year’s guest artist.”

Limited edition prints of the work will be available during the TD Banknorth Pops by The Sea concert, Sunday, August 6th on the Hyannis Village Green. The annual concert features the only Cape Cod appearance of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and conductor Keith Lockhart, this year featuring guest conductor William Shatner.

A native of Elkhart, Indiana, Pindell studied at Syracuse University and the Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy. The latter gave her a classical renaissance foundation that she later complemented with her subsequent studies with Sydney Willis, a student of Robert Douglas Hunter, and with Robert Cormier.

Pamela has exhibited widely in open juried shows, including the annual shows of the Salmagundi Club, the Catherine Lorrillard Wolfe Art Club, and the Audubon Society. Among her many accomplishments, Pindell counts her four major awards received within the last five years from the Guild of Boston Artists, including the prestigious Edmund Tarbell Award. Her commercial exhibitions include eight solo and dual shows at Tree’s Place in Orleans, including Capturing the Moment (2003), Painting from Life: The Human Figure (2002), Florals in the Style of the Boston School (2001), and In The Boston Tradition (1998).

Pindell’s work originates in her need to “share the special beauty that I see around me,” she says. “From the moment that I found I could recreate and even enhance the intrigue of someone or some thing, I realized that I was hooked, never questioned whether others would see it as well. I am honored and excited to be the 2006 artist for the TD Banknorth Pops by the Sea Concert. I recognize the importance of all that the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod does, and I am grateful to be a part of it.”
