Making Art, Making a Living Conference November 4

One-Day Regional Conference for Visual and Performing Artists, and Cultural Organizations

Centerville, MA, September 4, 2006 - The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC), the designated local arts agency for Barnstable County, is pleased to announce the 11th annual Making Art, Making a Living conference will take place at Cape Cod Community College on Saturday, November 4.

Visual and performing artists, artisans, and cultural organizations are invited to attend this one-day regional conference to boost their marketing and business acumen and to network with the cultural community of Cape Cod.

Featured workshops at the Making Art, Making a Living Conference will include grant writing, copyright and intellectual property law, contracts and negotiation, marketing and promotion for visual and performing artists, audience development for cultural organizations, spotlights on collaborative projects from throughout Cape Cod, and a special cultural organization roundtable.

Experts from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Coastal Community Capital, and the Lower Cape Cod Development Council will present intensive, hands-on workshops throughout the day.

“This year’s conference is designed to bring together cross sections of the cultural community, “ said Lisa Hergenrother, Executive Director of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. “We invite artists of all disciplines and representatives from all types of cultural organizations to join us this year. The focus of this year’s conference is broad, to encourage connections between the various sectors of cultural community. ”

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for Making Art, Making a Living. Registration is $50 per person, and includes a full day of workshops, a keynote address, breakfast and lunch. Participants can register online at www.artsfoundation.org or by calling 508-362-0066. Members of the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod are entitled to a 10% discount on their registration.
