Coco Larrain
Featured Member Artist

Coco Larrain of Brewster has specialized in oil portraits of pets, people, and their homes for over a decade. As a direct result of her experiences in the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod's Making Art, Making a Living program, however, Coco has broadened the scope of her expertise.

By beginning to paint portraits of people's collections, whether they collect shoes, cars, wine, fine art, or teddy bears, Coco has developed a unique artistic niche market, as well as a fascinating glimpse inside her subjects' heads.

"You can tell a lot about a person by their collections; our obsessions and consuming passions reveal a great deal about our personalities," Coco says.

Coco will also be a featured artist in the upcoming Whale Trail public art event on Cape Cod and the Islands. The Whale Dolphin Conservation Society chose Coco's design out of a field of more than a hundred submissions, and commissioned her to paint one of the impressive whale sculptures. Coco's design will bring attention to the real imminent danger of extinction faced by the world population of whales.

Coco's latest work will be shown at Francesca Anderson Fine Art/Portraits North in Lexington, Massachusetts beginning April 20. To find out more about the exciting new directions of AFCC Member Coco Larrain's work and life, read the full story at www.artsfoundation.org.
