TD BANKNORTH ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH ARTS FOUNDATION OF CAPE COD

Hyannis, MA, April 27, 2005 - BANKNORTH ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH ARTS FOUNDATION OF CAPE COD 2005 TITLE SPONSOR OF “POPS BY THE SEA”

HYANNIS, Mass. April 27, 2005—Banknorth will make a $65,000 donation to the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) to sponsor “Pops by the Sea”, the premier cultural event of the summer season. The bank is also to be recognized as a Sustaining Partner of the Arts Foundation year round through its support of numerous activities benefiting artists, art education and the creative economy.

“Banknorth supports effective and innovative arts and culture organizations that help form the backbone of our community life and are a key element of the Region’s tourist and retirement economy. The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod is the regional leader and coordinator of the Cape’s art and culture community. The organization has entered into a new phase under the able and innovative leadership of Gigi Ledkovsky, Executive Director, and a committed and entrepreneurial Board of Directors,” stated Bert Talerman, Regional Co-President of Banknorth’s Cape Cod Region.

It is rewarding to know that our partnership will help make an important difference in the quality of the programs offered by the AFCC,” said Marlene Weir, Banknorth’s Community Relations Officer. “Effective programs such as Making Art and Making a Living; the 2005 Everything Arts Guide; the Passport to the Arts Program; the Student Artist Reception; the Grants program and others offered by the AFCC are unique and important to Cape Cod.”

The appointment of Larry Squire, Regional Co-President of Banknorth will be proposed to the Board of Directors of the AFCC and he will also serve as a member of the Pops by the Sea Steering Committee. “It will be an honor and a real pleasure to be able to contribute to the work of the dedicated members of this Board,” commented Mr. Squire. “We are proud to be the sponsors of this fine organization and look forward to hosting the celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Pops by the Sea on the Town Green in Hyannis and supporting their year round program of activities.”
