Comcast Student Art Contest

Winning Design to Appear on Pops by the Sea T-Shirts

Centerville, MA, April 3, 2006 - The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) is now accepting submissions for the third annual Comcast Cape-wide Student T-shirt Art Contest. The winning design will be featured on the official T-shirt for the 21st Annual TD Banknorth Pops by the Sea Concert.

Contest winners and their sponsoring high school art departments will each receive art scholarships in the amount of $500 for first prize, $250 each for second prize, and $100 each for third prize. All entrants will receive two general admission lawn tickets to the TD Banknorth Pops by the Sea Concert.

“Comcast is proud to provide scholarship funding to student artists and their high school art departments to emphasize the importance of arts in our schools,” said Tom Coughlin, Regional Vice President for Comcast. “It is another way that we support education in the communities that we serve.”

The Pops by the Sea concert will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. August 6, 2006 on the Hyannis Village Green. The event marks the only Cape Cod appearance of Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra, and this year features guest conductor William Shatner, and special guest Rockapella. Proceeds generated by the concert support the programs of the AFCC.

The contest is open to all high school students living on Cape Cod, including those in public, parochial, private, charter and technical schools. The deadline for submissions is May 10, 2006, and winners will be announced by May 19, 2006. Subject matter should reflect the theme of “people enjoying music by the sea.” Entries will be judged by a panel of distinguished community leaders and local artists.
